Problems with IOTA:

1. When an IOTA number is associated with a spot it may be
entered in many ways. Click on the spot to see if the
summary window will tell you if it has been worked/confirmed
or, if nothing appears then it needs to be worked - or does
it. I think that DXBase will recognise only two formats:
NA052 and NA-052 with a preceding or following space. Many
will input this example as: NA52 NA 52 NA-52 NA.52 NA.052
using upper or lower case. I hope it may be possible to
include these additional formats. It would greatly reduce
the amount of checking elsewhere to see if it really is
needed.

2. The delight of working a new and previously unallocated
IOTA group is most often spoilt when inputting it in the
log - especially if it happens in the IOTA Contest. The new
number will not be accepted until it has been included in
the IOTA database: Tools > Options > Database Access > IOTA
> Last Entry + Enter new number group and details > update
the record + delete the log entry and re-input it again.

The maximum number of possible IOTA numbers for each
continent are fixed and known. May I suggest that these are
made available in the database for immediate use in the next
upgrade so that details of the island name, Latitude and
Longitude can be input later if required. Personally I
don't need this additional information in the database.
These are the totals:

EU = 189   AF = 119   AN = 50   AS = 200  NA = 245   OC =
295 SA = 99

These total 1197. The rules state that the number of IOTA
islands will not exceed 1200.
