Jim, Leave a space between the IP address, the #, and k1ttt.
For K1TTT, try k1ttt.net instead of the IP address. That's what I use to connect to David's node from my AR-Cluster node to his, and that's the address in the new DX Telnet. For a telnet connect to a node, you use an IP address, not a URL, either a static one like you were using with K1TTT or the name, such as k1ttt.net or n7us.net if the sysop has one. Those must be used if the node has a dynamic IP address instead of a static address, as is usually the case with a node using cable internet or DSL. So try: k1ttt.net # K1TTT Jim McDonald, N7US Mesa, Arizona [EMAIL PROTECTED] AR-Cluster node: 145.09 MHz or n7us.net (If you type the telnet://n7us.net into Internet Explorer, it should bring up a telnet program, but don't type that into the DXbase Hosts file.) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Mullen" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, March 31, 2003 10:03 PM Subject: [DXBase] Telnet connection? I know this has been on the reflector before, but I didn't need it then! I don't seem to be able to connect to any clusters that are specified by an IP address. If it's a normal URL it seems to work OK? Am I missing something. For example, to connect to K1TTT AR cluster I have in my hosts file: 161.77.0.10 #k1ttt When I try to open a new internet window I get an error message it can't connect. The IP address is correct and I can telnet into the cluster without any problem. Just can't seem to get it from within DXbase.
