I prefer and use LA7QI's method.  Yes, my shack wall clock runs UTC, but
I keep DXBase on both the shack PC and my everyday laptop (in case I get
bored in the office and want to check award status...), so both
computers run EST/EDT sync'd to NIST, but DXB translates to UTC.

Different strokes.

Not at all.  I like my computer clock set to GMT.  What ham shack has a
local time clock anyway?
