I still run version 2003 because : - My FT-897 is not supported - CW keying is not as it should be, better support for new keyers like 'winkey' or 'simple transistor' keyer. - Possible choise of alpahbetic printing of cards/labels (usa states are mixed up, buro-managers don't sort right) - DX cluster internet window dissapears and VHF window appears at every launch.
These are my 4 most demanding items, espacially nr 1 and 3 are the ones that will pursuade me to buy an upgrade when those works. I use my ts 850 with dxbase 2003 but my other stations run on different software because of the newer functions that support my new rig and better qsl sorting, so next year will be the year I decide what program to use. I still love the QSL card designer and possibilities, also the layout and configuration of the program is great, but it still lacks support of newer radio's, qls printing and sorting for us europeans is hard. I know Jack told us he hates that there is not a 'standard' for radio controle and it is a lot of effort to include all new radio's, but imho that is the reason why people join a fantastic program, because it supports the new radios comming on the market. I use logging software for automatisation (dx cluster -> radio controle, qls printing & sorting, reports, antenna controle, etc) if it only was to 'log' my qso's, I would keep writing cards and logs by hand ... I encourage dxbase team to keep develloping this great program, and I really hope new radios and qsl sorting when printing will be possible in dxbase 2005, they have my money for sure than ! 73,Phil ON4VP ----- Original Message ----- From: "Øystein Stokkeland" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <dxbase@mailman.qth.net> Sent: Wednesday, December 10, 2003 1:36 AM Subject: RE: [DXBase] Updates Hi all readers, just a personal view on Scientific Solutions kind of business.... Can you imagine that those people behind DXbase, putting so much work effort into creating a logging system that we all are so happy with, serving us all with an excellent and fast support at no charge, that they would would like to get some of the money they spend, in return. Only way to do this, is selling upgrades. Purchasing upgrades is the way we appreciate all the effort. If nobody are willing to purchase upgrades, there would soon be no more upgrades, and one of the very best logging system will be a history. So folks, keep on sending in suggestions for upgrades, that will make the best program be better!, and let us all show the thankfulness by purchasing upgrades. Can we keep on purchasing new expensive station equipment, the fee for DXbase is minimal compared to what we pay for new equipment. The same come true for producers of station equipment, if nobody spend money on new rigs, there will not be many new rigs on the market place. 73 de Øystein Stokkeland LA7QI Tel: +47 51 67 70 97 / +47 971 56 090 email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jim Sent: 10. desember 2003 00:10 To: dxbase@mailman.qth.net Subject: [DXBase] Updates I am using Dxbase 2004 and have been a user since DxBase 2000. One thing I would like to see are updates during the year to correct issues, IOTA, CALL SIGNS, NEW BANDS (60 METER), NEW RADIO SUPPORT etc. verses the typical once a year which requires you to by the newest version which will be now be 2005 probably at Dayton in May. 73 de KE4WY Jim _______________________________________________ DXBase Reflector - Please visit us on the web at www.dxbase.com - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - To UNSUBSCRIBE please visit: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dxbase _______________________________________________ DXBase Reflector - Please visit us on the web at www.dxbase.com - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - To UNSUBSCRIBE please visit: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dxbase
