LoTW did not differentiate between USB and LSB.
In the signing process, you have to set 'preferences' so that LoTW understands 
that if I
submitted a LSB as a qso/mode, it automatically corrects it to the LoTW 
acceptable form of
SSB.
This was the only qso that had this problem, maybe the other fellow submitted 
it PRIOR to
the software change to allow us to set these Preferences.
The same thing happened to the PSK modes. The early versions didn't accept BPSK.
You had to set the Preferences to BPSK=PSK31 for that qso to be acceptable
I had to also set:
LSB=SSB
USB=SSB
I remember reading they increased the types of modes in a later version of the 
software.
So like I said, I'm guessing that this qso was entered PRIOR to that software 
upgrade.
