I read with interest the post from NT1Y because I was surprised to see = so many issues that seem to either not be issues or else were just not = true to begin with? I've only been a user of DXbase for a about a month = but even I knew enough to realize that Bill's issues are brought on by a = simple lack of understanding about some things.
When importing from LoTW, if you don't trust the accuracy of the details = ( allllaa CQz, ITUz, County, or whatever ) that are furnished by LoTW, = then just don't ask for it and then you don't have any issue. You can = get your LoTW file without the details and thereby get your = confirmations without fear of anything happening to what you already = have in your log. To suggest this is a DXbase issue is just not right. = I think there just needs to be a little more reading of what LoTW = options are out there so you better understand the process and the = options you have at your disposal. I really wonder why the original = post wasn't made to the LoTW people instead of DXbase? I imported an ADIF file where my previous logging program used SSB as = its mode. But when I looked at my records in DXbase after the import, = the modes were correctly entered as either LSB ( 40 and 80 meters) and = USB on most of the rest. So it appears to me at least that this wasn't = really an issue either, just speculation and inaccurate at that. DXbase = did exactly what I would have expected it to do. I don't have an Orion, but I looked at the radio commands being sent by = DXbase based on the radios.ini file. I don't think DXbase is sending = any command for filters. In fact, I'm certain of it because I watched = the output on a piece of test equipment I have connected to my serial = port. What I see is that the radio is at fault because even though = DXbase did not tell it to change its filter, the radio did so anyway. = Why? DXbase did not tell it to do that. I glanced at the Orion info in = the radios.ini and there are no filter commands that would be sent for = it either, so I can only assume that the Orion too changes its filter = selections without being told to do so. I think this issue needs to be = delivered to the manufacturer of the radio. DXbase seems to be innocent = since it isn't telling the radio to do anything with filters in the = first place. The comments about VUCC were somewhat interesting. As the original post = pointed out, the DXCC award and the VUCC award are not compatible. One = lets all Qs from a country count, and the other does not. So, if you = don't want to maintain a separate log for the one that only counts from = a specific geographic place, then I find myself asking OK, then live = with it. What else would you want to happen? I guess you could use the = selection Wizard to extract QSOs for whatever VUCC area you are = submitting but beyond that, I think you may have to keep a separate log = for VUCC purposes if you want to separate out each region where you = operated. I don't know nothing about Propagation Mode, so I'll be quiet about that = except to say I don't see anything in the help file about tracking = propogation modes. I don't get any 2m spots in my DX Info window, and that's the way I have = it configured in the Alerts and Internet options tabs. If you are = getting 2m spots and you don't want them, then you must not have your = options set up correctly. I usually don't post on reflectors, but as a programmer myself, and = knowing that what was listed in the original post was really way out = there, I just felt that some corrections needed to be made before some = new guy comes along who doesn't know any better and walks away thinking = that what was originally stated was true. I've seen a lot of software = in my day, and written some too. So far, I think DXbase is = espectacular.
