You can make changes to the data, but not the data objects. In other words, you can change the operator call sign (or other data)- no problem. When you do this, there is no need to save anything. Access saves the changed data automatically when you click into another record. There is no need to convert the database.
On the other hand, if you make changes to the database structure (add or rename a field for example), then you would need to save the database using the save command. This is what causes problems when using a different version of Access. Regardless of what you do, always backup the file first.
