Hi Peter, if I understand you right you want to PCs to access one database. This is possible with ACCESS databases with some minor restrictions (although not intended to work so in DXBase I think - so don't blame Jack ;-)).
The two PCs need to be networked to PC1 can see and access PC2 and vice versa. Start DXBase on PC1 and tell DXBase to look for the *.mdb and *.co file on PC1 (for instance - I use a 3rd PC (Server) for these files). Start DXBase on PC2 and tell DXBase to look for the *.mdb and *.co file on PC1. That's all - you are done. The only limitation I found so far for me is that when you have DXBase running on both machines and you enter QSOs on both machines you will not see the QSOs from PC1 on PC2 (and vice versa) UNTIL you either shut down DXBase or click for instance on the Date column and use the arrow down to go to the last QSO. Also than, you have the actual log ... Hope this helps. 73sss Carsten, DL6LAU -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- Von: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Auftrag von Peter Dougherty Gesendet: Mittwoch, 2. Right now we have two completely separate operating positions, each with its own radio and computer. One radio is an FT-847 (which now works beautifully under DX Base - thank you, Jack et al!!), and the other is an older Kenwood TS-440 without computer control. Each operating position has a PC, and somehow I'd like to be able to log to a single file. Eventually, we will locate the two positions close enough together that one computer will work to control them both, and we will likely acquire a new computer-controllable radio to go with it. Until then, however, is there a way to make this whole process a bit easier? I'd like the operator on the non-PC-able radio to be able to enter QSOs into the main log, rather than have a second full installation running for the time being. The positions are much too far apart to use the same PC. What we are doing right now is using N1MM logger set up in multi-multi mode for day-to-day operations. Every so often I export an ADIF file and import it into DX Base, but that's hardly the solution I need. There's gotta be a way to do what I need, but I'll be darned if I can figure out how. What say everyone? 73 de Peter (W2IRT) [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please visit http://www.nyctrackbook.com for details of my book Tracks of the NYC Subway _______________________________________________ Dxbase mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dxbase
