I was puzzled, as I have YU confirmed or worked many times. Upon closer examination, DxBase said it was Federal Republic of Germany, or prefix Y (which is deleted). So why did it not see the U of the YU? I typed the call into the QSO field and it again came up with FRG. Did the prefix search stop on the first letter? Okay, so I tried this. I typed in YA/K1EP into the QSO field, fine, prefix is YA. I typed YI/K1EP into the QSO field, fine, prefix is YI. Not that I was intending to go to either place soon. But when I type YU/K1EP into the QSO field, I end up with Y.
Must be the day for Yugoslavia questions, although the one I posted earlier hasn't shown up. I don't use packet but you are right, it's nuts. Selecting a YU call in the log will put YU in the "Summary" box and show Yugoslavia, but typing "YU" there will show GDR. "YT" works the same, but "YZ" works correctly. I'll ask my question again here: How are you folks handling Yugoslavia QSOs? DXBase still shows YU, YT, YZ as Yugoslavia but the ARRL DXCC list says they are for Serbia-Montenegro. I can't get a handle on when this change was made. Feb 4, 2003 seems to be the date that this "loose confederation" came into existance, but I dunno... Do we need to do and "old prefix"- "new prefix" thing with an old prefix date or what?
