Hello All,

I am trying to evaluate the DXBase software because I think it may do some
things better than my present logging software. Namely, I need to manage my
QSL situation better (I?m behind). I downloaded and installed the trial
version today, and, so far, I have three questions:

1. I have DXAtlas. I put in my lat-longs, but DXBase tells me that I need
a
plus sign in front of my latitude. When I put one in, DXBase won?t keep it
and then DXAtlas (or DXBase) complains because I haven?t put a ?+? sign in
front of my latitude. How do I get around this so that DXAtlas will set my
home location correctly when I connect to it using DXBase? DXAtlas works
fine when I connect to it using Hamcap and/or MixW.
2. I would like to set the comment field in the database from 40 characters
to 128 characters in length. This may waste some space in the database
structure, but putting in copious notes during my QSO?s helps me to keep
from embarrassing myself whenever I contact someone more than once. I think
the field width is set to 40 in trial.mdb. Further, I think that it?s
messing up the ADIF import of the QSO comments from my present logging
software. Everything else imports fine. I opened the table up in Access
2000, and I saw that the field width was 40 for the QSO comments. If we
increase the field length, will the import routine work correctly? Right
now, I think the import routine wipes out the first 40 characters on comment
fields that are longer than 40 characters. If less than 40 characters,
everything is cool.
3. I use MixW for PSK and digimode work. I like the software because it
decodes PSK like a demon and the logging in it is painless. The only
problem with MixW?s logging is that the querying and QSL management is a bit
limited. Also, MixW will not store the state or the power level. I?d like
to be able to hotlink between MixW and DXBase and simply perform the edits
as I got rather than doing them in batch mode as I?m having to do now. I
understand that this can be done, but I?m a bit hazy on it. This same
question has been asked several times in the archives but wasn?t directly
answered.

Many thanks.
