Joe just included the Mills of France. There is an interesting story about this award. As many of the Mills were closing due to cheaper labor in the Far East, many of the Mills were lying vacant.
An enterprising German bought one of the mills and made it into a sort of a posh Pet Hotel. Using the wide floor areas for training areas. Using the other floors for kennels and runs. Many of the German's friends & neighbors took to boarding there dogs there when they went on vacation. While this did help the economy of the area, one side effect was a serious increase in ambient noise to the Mills countryside neighbors. One morning at feeding time the dogs were barking and howling so furiously that it caused one of the neighbors to remark. "Listen, THE MILLS ARE ALIVE....WITH THE HOUNDS OF MUNICH......" sorry guys, but the Devil made me do it...... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joseph Glockner" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "DXbase reflector" <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, October 29, 2004 3:53 AM Subject: [Dxbase] Updated Report is now posted to Joe WA6AXE's website foryour downloading > Good morning everyone! > > The most recent Awards Report, contains the following "selectable" choices - > to List QSO > data and see Stats for each: > > > ARLHS - Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society > BCA - Belgian Castles Award > DCE - Spanish Castles Award > DCI - Italian Castles Award > DFCF - French Castles and Forts Award > DMF - French Mills Awards > I.I.A. - Italian Islands Award > RDA - Russian Districts Award > RRA - Russian Robinson Award > WLH - World Lighthouses > > > > I have just finished adding the DMF (Mills of France) .. > > > The current Awards Reports - containing the 10 individual > Award trackings listed above - can be looked at - and downloaded > from: > > http://www.anzwers.org/free/wa6axe/awardreports.html > > 73, > > Joe WA6AXE > > ______________________________________________________________ > Dxbase mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dxbase > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[email protected] >
