Bill,

You can change Dxbase 2005 CW default mode to LCW for the Orion by doing the
following:

You are going to modify Dxbase's 'radios.ini' file located in
YourDrive:/Scientific Solutions/Dxbase folder.

FIRST!!!!!!!!!! SAVE A COPY OF THE RADIOS.INI FILE TO A SAFE PLACE.

Using NotePad or any TXT Editor open the file 'radios.ini'.

Scroll down to the radio script labeled [TENTEC_ORION565]

Change The equal values in the following lines:

P_CW=2 to 3
P_CWR=3 to 2

CW=2 to 3
CWR=3 to 2

DefaultCW=2 to 3
DefaultCWR=3 to 2

Also, note that Dxbase 2005 does allow you to switch the CW modes (CW
(default) or CWR) using 'Set HF Frequency' located under Tools. However,
this tool uses the dafault CW and CWR settings in the radios.ini file. It
does not 'switch' from one CW mode to the other on a permanent basis. To
switch the CW mode for a particular station Click the Set HF Frequency
Retrieve button and select CWR (or CW) under mode, and then click the QSY
button.

I briefly tested the above settings and seem to work OK here. Let me know
if you have any problems

REMEMBER, SAVE the RADIOS.INI FILE BEFORE MODIFYING IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Subject: [Dxbase] DXBase 2005 - Orion issue

The Ten-Tec Orion transceiver has two CW modes = UCW and LCW (putting the
BFO on different sides of the carrier). LCW is the more intuitive of the
two; in LCW the CW pitch rises as when the RX frequency is increased.

Unfortunately, DXBase always puts the Orion in UCW when grabbing a cluster
spot. Any way to change this to LCW? N1MM Logger, which I use for
contesting, allows one to select which CW mode is the default.

Many modern rigs have UCW and LCW, so perhaps this feature is of interest to
users of other transceivers.
