Just thought I'd publicly thank Joe for all his hard work in putting together
the new reports for the CQ DX Field Award program. Once you go through the
work of entering grid field data in your DXBase 2005 log, the new reports give
you a count for Mixed, SSB, CW, RTTY, plus band endorsement info.
About the only thing DXBase doesn't do for you is to actuate a robot arm to
fetch those QSL's out of the shoeboxes!

I would like to see is a report that prints out or displays Call sign, Date,
Time, Band, Mode, Frequency for QSOs, and list them by county and state. When
the list gets too long, it would be nice to have a seperate report for each
state.
Any others out there are interested?

To all,
After talking on the phone yesterday with the Award Manager
(N4UF) - I now have the final versions of the
CQ DX Field Award "reports" ready for you to download
from Bill, W9OL's website.
Pse note: The ZIP file contains both the "worksheet" and the
"application" reports - along with a TXT file containing the
necessary Rptdesc.ini additions that you must edit into the
ini file.
These 2 newest reports HAVE the correct logic for doing the
Special Endorsements - along with the regular BASIC Awards.
Any DXbase2005 user who rcvd the reports (earlier) from me
via email attachment - you might want to download these
"newest" versions.
Here is the web-address for downloading the ZIP file:
https://home.comcast.net/~w9ol/reports/cqdxfieldaward.zip
My tnx to Bill for his help in posting the zip file to
his website.

Subject: [Dxbase] Grids
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
How do you determine which grid a QSL is in if the country is in more than one
grid? For instance, Nepal is in 3 grids, but I know the city that the person
was in. Or if they are in Antarctica, which is a BUNCH of grids, if the card
shows the Lat/Long.
Sure wish there was an easy way to do this, especially if the country is in one
grid then those could at least be filled in automatically. Luckily those are
done. Actually after being a ham for 27+ yrs I only have 678 QSLs and 287 of
those are pre-1980. Unfortunately most of what is left is first half of 1980s.
Guess this is one time that only having 1739 QSOs will pay off.
I ran Joe's report and at the top of the report it had something like 168 of
1739, but never did figure out what that meant. I know that I have 347 QSLs
with grids listed, because I used my report and pulled them from the database.
Oh well back to reading, I need a break.

Bob,
In answer to you situation, here are a couple of webpages
that you can visit and get some help:
To convert Lat/Lon into a GRID visit:
http://www.amsat.org/amsat/toys/gridconv.html
To find out more information on all of the award visit and
scrolldown the whole page at:
http://home.earthlink.net/~bfwillia/gridfield.html
FYI - I am currently working on a NEW VERSION of the application
and worksheet - which WILL "also" USE the Single Grid entities
"automatically".
ALSO, we CAN USE the LOTW for this award.. Here are the words
from the award website talking about the LOTW usage for this
award:
//quote//
8. An LoTW printout may be presented to claim credit for fields
represented by single-field entities only. A copy of the LoTW printout
must be sent to the Award Manager with the application. It is the
applicants responsibility to provide this..
//unquote//
The report that they are talking about is found at the arrl lotw
website -- where you go to upload your lotw and download your lotw
adi file... The way to the report they are talking about is:
In the logbook of the world - Main Menu - AWARDS - ACCOUNT CREDITS -
All Credits/Challenge.
With ALL of this NEW info that I have rcvd from the Award manager,
I am currently working on some brand new versions of the reports.
More later on.

Bob,
The count at the top of the report your spoke of
(168 of 1739) -- means NOTHING at all ..it is just
a "counting" of the NUMBER of records that the
report dealt with while it was doing the report.
It has NO signifance to you as the user. The 168
number is the number of records (QSOs) that the
report "passed-through" my "selection logic" that
I programmed into the report - and of those 168
QSOs -- some of them were "not shown" because I
am ONLY selecting (to print out for you) the
MOST RECENT QSO that met the requirements.
So bottom line Bob -- pse ignore the numbers
at the top of the report.. JUST use the report
itself.

Subject: [Dxbase] Houston - we are a go! CQ DX Field Award FINAL reports are
ready - Joe wa6axe
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
To all:
If you have received the CQ DX Field Award files directly
from me - or - if you have downloaded them from Bill's
website (before this) -- PSE be sure and download THESE
NEW files.. the LOGIC is a bit different than before!
I believe that the "final" version of both the
CQ DX Fields Award "Application" and "Worksheet"
are in good shape and are NOW posted to the Bill's website.
Here is the web-address for downloading the ZIP file:
https://home.comcast.net/~w9ol/reports/cqdxfieldaward.zip
FYI - the new files "automatically" USE the Single GRID
Entities (is you call for their use - it is "defaulted"
to use them).. There are 181 Countries/Entities that
call info the Single Grid category - and therefore, YOU
DO NOT necessarily have to have your GRID column in your
logbook "filled-in" for those Single GRID entity QSOs.
The report will "automatically" pick-them-up.
If you have any questions about the 2 reports - just ask me
via email.
I have sent the Award's Manager (Billy - N4UF) a screen-capture
of the "Application" (filled-in with my own information) - asking
him if the application "as is" will be acceptable! He gave his
full blessing and we can use the application "as is".
I will try to post a complete webpage at my own website
later on tonight - and will be posting a screenshot / photo
of the LoTW Report that "MUST" go to the Award Manager (along
with your Application) - if you want to USE LoTW for some
credits toward this award.
73 to all,
Joe WA6AXE
My tnx to Bill for his help in posting the zip file to
his website.
