Hi Bob
The County Hunters had nothing to do with the independent cities. This
was done by the Virginia State Government. Take a look at a Virginia map.
Example: two or more small cities formed one city to keep from being annexed
by a larger city. This is what happen with the counties of Virginia Beach,
Chesapeake, Norfolk, Prince Ann and Nasser (spl). All of these counties
combined to form Isle of Wright. Each city has its own Government.
The County Hunters had to do something with the people that lived in or
were mobile in these cities so they let the operators in these cities count
for one of the surrounding counties.

Yah, I guess HAMs in the "Independent Cities" in VA are not considered
to be in counties. That is odd because the VA WEB description you sent
me says that those cities have all of the courts and offices of a county
government and I am surprised that the county hunters group doesn't
therefore count them as counties. I just seems like if a HAM is in the
US there should be some corresponding county entity to put in my data base.

Thanks for the help Al.

Bob

Bob,

I guess what we have to keep in mind here - is that the COUNTY
column is "keyed-to" the acceptable 3,077 counties that the
USA-CA is keyed-to ... regardless of whether a county is listed
in a civilian look-up database, etc .. the thing to keep in
mind here is that the AWARD for Counties (USA-CA) is what we
are working toward .. if the award "does not" list that county
as being one of the 3,077 - then it will not show up and should
not be added - because again - think of the AWARD people's
database..

If it hasn't been asked for already I would like to see a option within DXBASE
for back up. Really shouldn't have to get out of program to do this? a backup
button would be great in a drop down menu. I use WINLOG 32 for my county
hunting and it has a feature for backup within the program that even asks you
when you shut it down if you want to backup your log. Just a request! Tnx AA1BQ

I cannot find the county you are referring too (Virginia Beach City, VA) in
the Rand McNally Atlas '04 nor in the CQ County Listing Record Book. Are you
sure about your inquiry?

This is a great point and a valid feature DXBase is lacking. I have been a
DXBase user since the product was initially released and have wondered why this
feature has yet to be incorporated.

I believe you can't run processes on the database file unless "Access" is
doing it. I'd say write and complain to Microsoft............?

:-)
