And kidding aside....
I find it common among the PSK generation to use the buffer:
"qso logged at 00:00:00" at the END of a qso.

Don't know how that got started but it seems to be trend.
(guess some software had that premade buffer and others copied it)

But this goofs up the startime/endtime issue.
I personally log the time we 'make contact' as the start time.
When the station comes back to my call.
"W9OL de P5GOOF, tu etc. etc."

I can't say I ever saw a rtty qso use that buffer to end a qso, but I do see it 
a lot in 
PSK.

LoTW accepts a 30 minute variance in start times, so unless you pretty long 
winded it 
should make it...
