Been a while but if I remember correctly it's because of the way you enter the data fields. Can't remember which was which, but think if you clicked on a callsign or name etc. and they filled the log fields, then they could be transferred to DXBase via it's DDE. But if you manually entered them...they wouldn't.
That may be vice versa but that was the clue. And yes, it doesn't automatically save the qso...it fills the DXBase qso line but you have to remember to cursor down or manually save it.
