To all: If any DXbase user has multiple OPRCALLS in one single "merged" logbook mdb file, and has a situation where the logbook only shows "one" OPRCALL sign - and, you want to enter the multiple OPRCALLS (but there are hundreds of them), you can use MS Access97 standalone program and change the OPRCALL fields in the QSOs that need to be modified.
If you have a copy of MS Access97 (or any MS Access program "that is capable of SAVING the mdb file in Access97 format), then you can make the "mass alterations" all ok.. If you do not have either of the above programs, I am willing to help out.. If you want my help, I will need to communicate with you regarding a few items -- then after about 30 minutes of work -- the mdb file will be back to you.. 73 and Happy New Year in 2006 to all out there!!! :-)) Joe WA6AXE From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Dec 28 21:17:55 2005 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Tim Heger) Date: Wed Dec 28 21:19:36 2005 Subject: [Dxbase] using DXB across local Network References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Are you running XP Professional on either computer and have both computers connected to a home network? If so, you can run DXbase (or any other program) on just the computer running XP Pro, and access that computer across your home network using "Remote Desktop", a feature included with XP Pro. By accessing one computer with the remote computer there is no need to have any program loaded on both computers. 73, Tim - N3XX ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul Cassel" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, December 28, 2005 3:14 PM Subject: [Dxbase] using DXB across local Network Greetings all. I run two PCs in the house with DXbase 2006 loaded on each. One is at the operating position that and has the main VE3SY.mdb database. The other is loaded on my general use PC that has the dB access pointed to the network drive at the operating position. I have found that making these changes created a few challenges for QSLing however I "believe" I now have everything pointing to the machine with the main database but may have missed something. The DXbase setup allows mapping the location of the database and the screen layout and I have edited the DXBASE2006.INI file for QSL Label info however there does not appear to be a path in the .ini file for automatically selecting a network location to the edit/create label routine. Now here's the question involving backups.... Is there a method to relocate all of the files that should be backed up to a single directory? I currently have the CALLSIGN.mdb and the default.co in a new directory that I call 'Database' and this directory is synchronized nightly using WS_FTP Pro to an offsite server where any local files that have changed are FTP'd to the off-site server. I would like to add all of the .WCF, .CO and the Refdata.MDB files to this directory however I doubt DXB will know where to look. Anyone have suggestions? I know it was created as a general logging program, but I was wondering why a contesting mode couldn't be added. Seems a shame that those who work contests have to use a totally different logging program for contesting and then import that log into DXBase. In some cases, from what I have been told, you even have to get a third program to translate the output of the other program into ADIF or some form that DXBase will accept. Seems like a lot of trouble and more work than necessary for those who do do contesting. 73s Bob
