I have created my tongue-in-cheek wish list for the ultimate DXBase =
release.
If you were a fan of "2001 A Space Odyssey" you'll get an extra chuckle =
from
some of my references. Expected release date is in the year 2525 (...if =
man
is still alive...) when Dayton falls on April 1.

=93What I'm waiting for is the ultimate update that allows me to setup =
my PC
to run DXBase then leave it. Once installed it'll scan the bands, =
recognize
who's on, work 'em if they're needed (regardless of mode), print the QSL
card, address it, mail it, ogle over the card when it arrives, log it as
confirmed, submit it to ARRL and notify me once I have achieved Honor =
Roll.
Think of it - it'll save all that hassle of having to find time to =
actually
sit down and operate! =20

The FCC might even decide that it's so much cleaner and efficient that
they'll quit issuing amateur licenses to humans and only issue them to
qualified PCs referred to as Human Activated Licensees or HALs for =
short.
This will simplify operating even more! Once we've loaded DXBase 9000 =
our
HAL will connect, via the internet of course, to the examiner's PC =
who'll
verify that it can indeed operate correctly without human intervention. =
With
e-CSCE in hand we can then wait expectantly until the day our HAL =
informs us
that the FCC has issued it's call sign and it's now legally operating. =
We
can go to Dayton each year and proudly brag to our friends over a cold =
one
about the awesome job our HAL did in the pile-ups and how many new ones =
it
worked. We can also reminisce with the other old timers, while the =
newbies
sit in awe, about the good old days when we humans were actually =
licensed
and allowed on the bands to operate. Is this Amateur Nirvana or what, =
Dave?
Dave, who is Jack? What are you doing Dave?...=94

=20

Happy New Year to everyone and may all your DX be rare and QSL 100% in =
2006!

Jim, K8FT
