hmmmm been so long since I tested that.
I find that it will work if you delete qsl labels at the same time as address 
labels.
But not if you just try to delete address labels.
I tried it with both shift 8 asterisk and the num pad asterisk.

I never delete all the labels at a time either so I never noticed it.
