Hi Joe, I understand that USB adaptors take on a life of their own depending on the job you wish them to do. i.e.: Rig control, Rotor, CW, RTTY, etc.... The problems with USB devices arise mostly from timing errors and buffer sizes.
Here is on site that may help you: http://rttycontesting.com/usb.htm Yes, some of the hardware mentioned there is outdated, but information should still be of some help. Myself, I have tried a generic (no name) USB adaptor for one communications project, which worked fine for the job at hand - transferring data from my computer to an external device, I never tried if for any ham applications. Instead my approach was to go with the microHAM KEYER. It had all the toys I wanted - Rig control, PTT, CW and RTTY all in one package. And as a bonus, if I ever hook up a microphone to my rig is DVK for phone operations. The neat thing with the mK is all ports go to a single USB port and the device is designed with radio in mind, not something built for a PDA pocket device. The microHAM gear works just fine with DXbase software. Check out the product line at: http://www.microham-usa.com/products.html and see if there is anything there that will help you with your project. Best of luck on your research, 73 Eric - VE3GSI. -----Original Message----- From: joe barkley GM, I am looking for input from users on known working USB to serial adaptors that are working with Dxbase. I have tried a Dynex with no luck and understand there are a few that will work and some that won't. I am looking for 2 -4 port. Tnx 73 Joe KI4TZ
