I'm getting into the hang of this -- it's not as tough as I thought. I do have
a couple of questions, though.

1) There are various ways to encode dates. I prefer dd mm yyyy encoding, but I
also like to encode the month as Roman numerals. Is that possible within the
QSL label editor and, if so, what is the format string? I think I started doing
this after I read W9KNI's book...

2) It looks like the grid is in tenths of inches. Can that be made into metric
cm/mm or fractional inches and, if so, how do I do so?

OK, three questions...

3) Is there a "snap-to-grid" option for the various fields once I've generated
them? I have to believe there is, but I haven't found it yet. Finding that will
make aligning everything a lot easier.

Alright, alright... One more:

4) Not related so much to printing onto QSLs, but a general question for
managers: do managers prefer QSL info on the front, or on the back of the card?
Is there a general consensus about this, or is it all a matter of personal
preferences?

It's an interesting editor tool, one that I've not seen before. Is it something
standard and do I simply not get out enough, or is it unique to DXBase? I must
say that the more I get into DXBase, the more impressed I've become. This has
taken me... What? Almost 4 years? Guess I'm a slow learner :)

Subject: [Dxbase] Annual Wish List
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

'tis the season to be jolly and with it comes the Annual DXbase Wish List
the good folks at Scientific Solutions.

Last year my list had gotten totally overlooked so I am hoping the coders of
DXbase have found their glasses and kindly look at my missed requests . I
have more or less kept the same same list, after all nothing was addressed
last year and this year have added some more comments. So Si-fi peoples,
entice me to buy the next copy of your fine product with these fixes and
enhancements. At the very least make an announcement to us 'Kmart Shoppers'
so we know you do indeed read all our requests.

----------
Let's start with an easy one. Why do we need the AA4LU entry for upgrades?
For us fellows that try and sync our logs with external logs like LoTW we
have to go search and destroy this entry every time we do an upgrade. Not a
hard thing to to do I admit, but why do we need this entry at all?

----------
The start up DXbase splash screen. Can we have an option of turning it off?
With the need to start several tasks on my computer when 'Hamming it up' the
darn splash screen covers other windows I need to get at. Well at least let
us bury the screen if it can not be turned off.

----------
In the area of the QSL Label and Card Wizard. I would really like to see the
QSL Card Sample be able to use the users calls and personal information.
Simply because the lengths of my field information is not the same as the
sample fields and often I end up printing several unneeded cards to get one
I like. I also want sample cards that I can print at random and hand out to
friends or SWL guys.

---------
The ability to instantly show the QSO's that are marked for labels or cards
without going into the data file manager.

-----------
This is a repeated request of several years and really needs to be added for
us CW ops. We need a way to disable PTT with the K1EL CW Keyer for break-in
or full break-in operation. QSK is important to us that use it, so again
please lets us have the option to turn off PTT in CW.

-----------
The CW echo window does not work as it should in the Transmit Toolbar. It
really needs to be improved for those that may want to use the keyboard to
send CW. There is no type-ahead window with the transmit character screen.

----------
I know Joe (and others) have put a lot of effort in getting external RTTY
programmes to work with DXbase. Still, I and others would like to use the
MMTTY plug-in. It is a much cleaner way to do call entry. No extra steps
required, just click the call it shows up in the entry window, if we need
the fellow we work the fellow, if not clear the entry field and move on. The
MMTTY plug-in is available for all programmes to use for free, have a look
at WriteLog (or other contest programmes) to see why we like the MMTTY
plug-in. If the MMTTY plug-in can not work with DXbase please tell us why.

-----------
Live updates. The world is a changing place with IOTA and Countries etc...
Instead of manually updating data files could it not be done with a live
update.

----------
A method of seeing if Rig is connected - visible frequency in the entry
field would be great.

---------
It is a pain to have to jump through hoops each and every time we need to
reconnect the radio. Can we not have a click button to do this with? Or
perhaps add an option to the short-cut keys list so we can add it as a
keyboard shortcut.

------------
A method of seeing if K1EL (or other brands) Keyer is connected. For the
same reasons above and again a quick reconnect button would be nice.

------------
Once a file is uploaded up to LoTW perhaps it would a good idea not to allow
deletion of file with a warning that the files on LoTW will not be update or
deleted.

-----------
Once a file is uploaded to LoTW allow only non-critical fields to be
modified that LoTW do not track.

----------
Copy and paste to RST does not work.

There is no doubt that DXbase is one heck of a powerful and stable program.
Never once have I felt my hard earned QSO data has been in jeopardy of being
messed up and the ability to look at stats is far beyond my needs. But, I
honestly think my Wish List requests are reasonable and certainly would be
in keeping with features and options found in other lesser logging programs
available to us.

Subject: [Dxbase] as a qsl manager I prefer
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

I don't care if you put the qso data on front or back.
JUST MAKE SURE YOUR CALLSIGN IS ON also on the side where the qso data is.

If your card is a photo or fancy description, make sure you put your call on
the same side as you put the qso info.

I get hundreds of bureau cards.
So flipping them back and forth to make sure I got the call corect takes
time.

And if your using a qsl that says W9OL but were using W9OL/BS7
make sure it says that on BOTH sides.

This is especially important for Rovers during QSO Parties.

you.
