I noticed the same annoying behavior in the CAQP this past weekend (DXBase 2006, WinXP). I wasn't really in the contest, just trying to hand out a few multiplier contacts from AK. I finally found a work around that simplified the problem, but the real solution is to fix the bug. My "work around" is when the dupe popup box shows up to click the "No" button and log the contact, then immediately hit the Esc key to delete the entry. This resets the number counter back to the correct number for the next qso and leaves the cursor in the call field for the next entry. A bit easier to hit the Esc key than to hit Alt-Tab to back space to the call field. However, the bug should be fixed.
