If you make changes to the entry either in the log window itself or in the Previous QSO's window and then move to a new row in the database, the changed info is saved. I think the moving "bar" you are referring to displays when DXBase is writing out the new statistics files from any updates or changes to the database. If the info you changed did not result in any key statistics being changed, the bar will not display as no new statistics are being created or updated. The data itself however did get saved.
