Thank you kind sir, I figured it was something like that.  Mostly I had
gotten to the point where I was just ignoring that date because I have an
Excel spreadsheet that I use to keep track to when stuff is really mailed so
I will know how long it has been gone.

In Setup, under Log Defaults, un-check the Populate QSL Sent Date on Label
Save

That is how I have mine set up (unchecked). I print the labels the 
day I mail off the cards, so my sent date is always accurate that 
way. If I DO print the labels before, I just say no when asked to 
mark them sent, and I don't empty them from the queue. I just 
simulate a print job the day they're to be mailed off and say yes 
when asked if I want to mark them as sent.
