Folks,
I wish to thank some of the forum members for their tireless assistance in getting DXbase 2006 to "talk" to my Yaesu FT-2000. The biggest problem was to get it to QSY from the packet cluster. All the other functions seemed OK. Joe Glockner WA6AXE our resident guru spent many phone calls and emails back and forth finally suggesting I get in touch with Dave Lance, NF8R who wrote the FT-2000 .ini file. After many emails back and forth Dave mentioned a link to the FT-2000 users group. I did not know one existed! I had been using DXbase since its inception years ago and although it would have been easier to switch database/logging programs I really did not wish to do so. Well, here is the funny thing, the link on the FT-2000 users group was written by a local Ham, Ernie KS4Q, who also runs the local DX packet cluster :-) I did not know he was also a 2000 user. Here is the "trick" from Ernie. In the Yaesu menu change CAT 28 to 1000ms. This sets the time out of the serial port. This may also work with other Yaesu rigs that use a menu for CAT I don't know. That one change made the difference, it now works like a champ!!! So thanks Joe, Dave, Ernie. My DXbase interface works like it should.
Good work all!! de Neil N4FN
