I had a second HD in the computer and backed up that using Norton Save
and Restore, but that seems to be toast now too. The drive is spinning
but SpinRite doesn't see it and neither does BIOS.

I'll be more thorough as you are, Larry, going forward. Now I'm going
to get on the phone to see if HD recovery is feasable.

A buddy is replacing the P/S in the computer and installing a spare, new
HD I have, but that doesn't solve the lost data problem. Maybe I should
get a new HD (I'm pretty price insensitive right now) but then I'll also
have the joy of Vista, which I've never used.

(I also have a node PC, set up for AR-Cluster, though it ran CC-Cluster
for a while, but it's sitting unused. I could have Backed up to that
too!!

Jim,

I'm sorry to hear that you had this problem.

May I suggest for the future:

1. A 2nd HD with an image (Norton Ghost) either internal or external.

2. A flash drive. You can buy a 4 Gb one for $20.

3. There are many places on line that offer free storage.

Been there.... Done that.

Not being anal but, I have 2 hard drives in my computer. (second is an
image that I do once a week).

I back up on a flash drive and also on 2 remote servers (daily) as well
as on my wifes laptop and my node HD!

Good luck!

73, Larry
