I just want to express admiration and appreciation to Joe for his new AXETTY program. It fits my kind of RTTY operating beautifully. I'm a casual operator with occasional ragchewing but mainly chase rare DX. I'm trying to reach that elusive DXCC honor roll in just RTTY rather than combining with other digital modes. I gave up contesting when my age told me that a good night's sleep was not only needed but more fun. But my respect for contesters and their skills remains high.
Now I can tune in stations with the MMTTY engine, work them in pile-ups with Joe's AXETTY and its easy macros--and then log them directly into DXbase. The program, the engine, my DXbase log and my favorite spotting program (DX Monitor) all fit neatly on my screen. A real pleasure. Thanks to Joe, the old routine of keeping a paper log and then manually punching QSOs into DXbase is just a bad memory. (Yes, the MMD program worked well for this but AXETTY adds some nifty features). Since I have two ham shacks, one in an apartment along the Hudson and one in a country house, I'm still looking for the easiest way to keep the DXbase logs in sync at both places. Creating and importing .adi files works, of course, but seems clumsy. Anyone have a better solution?
