Dick, I honestly don't know if the Orion II uses handshaking, but with the Icom Rigs that do NOT use handshaking in the serial communications, the DTR and RTS are used to provide power to some of the CI-V interfaces (the ones with the electronics built into the shell).
My first thought is the Orion does not use handshaking since you are able to have rig control with any of the DXB options. Best look in the O2 manual to see what the protocol is required for the rig. In the old days DTR (data terminal ready), RTS (Request to Send) and CTS (Clear to Send) were lines to signal that peripherals or computers were ready to communicate. Most common with printers and modems. So again, I would just look at the rig manual to see if those lines are even used. 73 Eric - Ve3gsi > -----Original Message----- > From: Dick Williams > Subject: [Dxbase] Radio settings for the Orion II > > I have a question concerning the "proper" settings in the Radio-1 (or 2 > for that matter) for the O2.
