Art,

Some anti-virus programs have an option to NOT scan selected programs,
folders and files when you run them. You may wish to see if Vipre has such
an option and set it not to scan the DXbase program or folder. I know you
mentioned trying numerous things with Vipre and perhaps these were options
you have already experimented with.

I use this option with AVG to not scan a home finance program and folder.
For some reason, at times, it takes eons to exit this program (I think
because of the virus program) and since I am not worried about virus ever
rooting itself in this folder I simply choose not to scan it when I start
the home program. This may work for you as well. I should stress, with AVG
this option is called 'Resident Shield' and it is used to scan 'running'
programs and has nothing to do with the virus scanner scanning the entire
hard drive during a scheduled scan.
