This sometimes happens to me when closing DXBase in Windows XP. The service does not completely shut down. You don't have to re-boot if you don't want to. Here is what I do.
1. Hit Ctrl-Alt-Del. 2. Click the Processes Tab. 3. Under Image Name, search for Dxb2006.exe 9or whatever version you are running. 4. Click on Dxb2006.exe and hit the End Process button. 5. Close the Task Manager. 6. You can now run Writelog and it will access the com ports. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Bill Parry Sent: Saturday, June 27, 2009 9:54 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [Dxbase] DXBase and Writelog I was setting up Writelog for field day this morning and had a common occurrence happen to me. I usually leave DXBase running continuously on my computer. When I close DXBase apparently it does not release its control of the comport because I have to reboot the computer to get Writelog to connect to the comport. This doesn't seem to happen with any other programs that I run but has been a constant for a long time with DXBase. Not too big an issue but I was wondering if it was something that I was doing.
