Because I want to have at least 3 releases within the next version and they will cross the yearly boundary, I am going to rename DXBase 2010 to DXBase version 10. That way I can continue to release bug fixes and new features without the confusion of whether it happens in 2010 or 2011. I want to be 100% happy with version 10, both in terms of internal software structure as well as getting many of the to do list items done before turning the "release clock" to version 11. I promise that I will not force an upgrade for at least 18 months on v10. The basic framework (database maintenance and qso entry aspects) of the program is looking pretty good. I am still making some technology choices that could force "1 step back" before I move forward but the framework is the easy part (in fact). Please don't ask for screenshots, demo programs, etc. as I cannot do that. I will not release anything like that until its been thru a good part of beta testing as things always change during that cycle and I do not want to get you excited about something that changes during that phase. All I can say is it will contain the very latest technologies from Microsoft and look very much at home on Windows 7 (and if you haven't upgraded to Win7, you should consider it as I think its wonderful). Many people have asked if I will be at Dayton and unless something unexpected happens, I will be there. I will not have a booth this year (there's about a 15% chance I cannot make it and the booth fees are pretty steep and non-refundable). I might ask a "friendly company" if I can nudge onto their setup but at a minimum I will be there with a shirt and name badge reflecting DXBase. For sure, the first release will happen during the latter half of the summer. I hope the beta testers get it in late June/early July. The only deterrent to the schedule is the volume of computer orders I handle. Luckily its slowed down over the last couple of weeks so I have been able to really devote some uninterrupted time to the release. So, with the 18 month commitment to retain the v10 version, that means the earliest I ask you for the next upgrade will be Q1 of 2012. Speaking of which, if you have a friend who is considering a new computer, I give a free license away with each sale of a computer. If you already have a computer, you can have the license used for a friend. Thanks again for the continued support, great ideas (don't stop sending them, you are not overwhelming me with ideas) and telling the DXBase story to your friends! 73 Neal Campbell Abroham Neal Software www.abrohamnealsoftware.com (540) 645 5394 NEW PHONE NUMBER Amateur Radio: K3NC Blog: http://www.abrohamnealsoftware.com/blog/ DXBase bug reports: email to [email protected] Abroham Neal forums: http:/www.abrohamnealsoftware.com/community/ ______________________________________________________________ Dxbase mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dxbase Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Dxbase mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dxbase Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
