Since serial comms is how it's all done at present I expect the main change that we would see is that we would now have 'issues with USB drivers' to deal with before we could get the radio working. Once the manufacturers decide for you that your radio is 'old enough' then you would see no driver updates for new versions of windows / Mac. I think I would much rather see manufacturers stick with serial (or ethernet) , that way I can choose my own 2$ USB/Serial converter instead of leaving that up to the manufacturer to fit internally to the radio and expecting them to support it with working drivers for the next 20 or 30 Years. I already have a drawer full of USB devices that are no longer of any use due to the lack of up to date drivers for modern operating systems there are some potential problems with Ethernet and drivers too, if a good extensible standard usable by all manufacturers is not decided. -- 73 Brendan EI6IZ ______________________________________________________________ Dxbase mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dxbase Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
