After upgrading I decided to integrate the station. With version 2001 I didn't have a computer controlled CW keyer or a computer controllable rotator. Ver 2007 supports those and more.
It took most of the morning to figure why I couldn't get the rotor to work. I was using a USB to Serial connector and that was my first concern. I moved the radio from the "real" serial port to the USB to serial and the rotor to the real port. Still nothing! I then used Hyperterminal to see what was going on. Turns out M2 changed their command structure from when 2007 was written. The old version just wanted to see the number, the new version requires the A for azimuth before the number. Once I had that figured out I made the changes in the program command settings and bingo! This is so sweet now. All I need to do is automate the antenna switching and my station will be a point and shoot setup. I LIKE IT! Now to finish the roughly 1000 qso entries and update my LoW standings to DXB.
