Depending on what kind of video cards you have and If your video card is multimonitor compatible (2 ports) You may have to go to the video card setup. Usually they have the options for which monitor is main, which is slave, extend desktop over both, set resolution on both, and also choose which is left and which is right. Some even have top/bottom.
Depending on your OS, right clicking on the empty desktop will give you the Personalize menu where you can change monitor data/settings. MultiMonitors is the single best feature MS ever did.
