ALL:

We know that this is not going to happen anytime soon - as we are awaiting word
from
Neal (in the future) simply about DXbase 10 ver 0.1 --- but, I wanted to get
the word out
to everyone else that might be using a CDROM look-up (such as RAC or QRZ, etc
etc) -- about
this BUG that Marco (I0MOM) exchanged emails with me about and we got his
problem nailed-down-to
the RAC/CDROM look-ups ...

Here is the problem ...

(1) The "Normal" sign convention (for LONGITUDE) that is used by all of the
CDROM Callbook makers is that
the EAST is a PLUS ( + ) Longitude -- and -- WEST is MINUS ( - ) Longitude ..
But, DXbase has always had a
SIGNING CONVENTION that is Reversed from this "Normal" --

(2) Therefore ... IF any DXbase user has the CDROM Lookups TURNED-ON
(Activated) -- then pse
be aware that if the DX Station's coordinates are included in the CDROM Record
entry -- then your
Bearing and Distance will NOT BE CORRECT ...

ALL of the INFO you will see on BEARING and DISTANCE is related to Marco
(I0MOM) QTH:

Here are some screen-shots to show the GOOD entry (without CDROM LookUPS turned
on):

http://www.navycthistory.com/wa6axe/GOOD.gif

and now the BAD entry (I now turned-ON the CDROM LOOKUPS):

http://www.navycthistory.com/wa6axe/BAD.gif

and -- here is a screen-shot of the RAC (CDROM) entry for AH0D .. see the
coordinates ....

Again - I know that this will not be take care of (BUG) anytime soon -- but, I
wanted to give
ALL a heads-up on this .. just in case you also run into this --- and, one
other thing -- once
there is a BAD Bearing/Distance - because of the CDROM -- your SUMMARY window's
entries from then on out will be OFF and will be locked into the erroneous data
...

Just FYI for now ...
