Hi Gary Can I connect and see what the winHlp Microsoft module is reporting? You can get a message (that I have seen) when you have already applied the patch, when you are running it on the wrong version of windows or if you downloaded the wrong version for the bit architecture.
I am not sure what you mean by all applications. For the exe files in the DXBase folder, do the compatibility process. 73 -----Original Message----- From: dxbase-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dxbase-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Gary AL9A Sent: Thursday, May 24, 2012 2:34 AM To: dxb...@yahoogroups.com; Dxbase@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dxbase] Fw: [dxbase] New Installer for DXBase v1.10 Neal and Tony, Just did a search in my Windows system folder and found 3 instances of winhlp32.exe on my machine! The oldest one is dated 11/02/2006 so that was probably the original winhlp32.exe file installed. The other two are both dated 01/11/2008. One is in Windows (C:), the other looks like it is in the registry as it is a very long address. Apparently I must have downloaded the winhlp32.exe file from MS back in 2008, but never did anything with it after that. This must be the cause of the "The update does not apply to your system" messages. It would have helped had MS just said "You already have it installed dummy!". I followed the instructions in the installation.pdf about how to unblock.hlp files and ran the Mr. FixIt utility. That seemed to run ok, but neither the DXB2006 or DXB2007 Help files run correctly at the moment. It may be I have to reboot or it may be tied to the file permission stuff coming up next in the installation.pdf about flagging all the files to Run As Administrator. Hopefully that will cure the problem. Neal - in the installation.pdf it says to "Repeat the Privilege process for all the programs". Does this apply to just the exe programs, or ALL the programs? It's late, I'm tired and burned out at the moment. Will try to continue through the rest of the install tomorrow. 73, Gary AL9A ----- Original Message ----- From: Gary AL9A To: dxb...@yahoogroups.com Sent: May 23, 2012 9:27 PM Subject: Re: [dxbase] New Installer for DXBase v1.10 Tony, Thanks for the link, but unfortunately neither Windows6.0-KB917607-x86.msu nor Windows6.1-KB917607-x86.msu will work. Both installers open the Windows Update Standalone Installer window that says "Search for updates...", followed by "Search has completed." and a new window that says "The update does not apply to your system". I think the 6.0 version is for Vista SP1 and the 6.1 version is for Vista SP2. I have SP2 and do not understand what is causing it to crash. Guess I'll try sending MS tech support an email and see if they have any suggestions. Doesn't seem like getting the Help file to work again should be rocket science! 73, Gary AL9A ----- Original Message ----- From: Tony To: dxb...@yahoogroups.com Sent: May 23, 2012 7:08 PM Subject: RE: [dxbase] New Installer for DXBase v1.10 Gary, the install file that you need is here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5143 and the one you need for Vista 32 bit is named Windows6.0-KB917607-x86.msu 73 de Tony, KD4K ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- From: dxb...@yahoogroups.com [mailto:dxb...@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Gary AL9A Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2012 8:24 PM To: dxb...@yahoogroups.com; dxbase@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [dxbase] New Installer for DXBase v1.10 Neal, I think I found the correct location for downloading the patch for Vista, Windows6.1-KB917607-x86msu. It appears DXB2007 has installed ok and now I'm trying to download the MS patch to fix the Help files. I've downloaded the Windows6.1-Kb17607-x64.msu patch, but it won't install on my Vista machine as it is apparently for Win7 only. Where do I get the patch for a Vista 32 bit system? 73, Gary AL9A ----- Original Message ----- From: Neal Campbell To: dxb...@yahoogroups.com ; dxbase@mailman.qth.net Sent: May 21, 2012 5:31 AM Subject: [dxbase] New Installer for DXBase v1.10 Hi All I have updated the DXBase2007 v1.10 installer on the server to fix the problems reported with running import.exe. The installer's zip file also includes the Install pdf file. I updated it for Windows XP users so they can avoid doing the needless stuff required by Vista/Win7. The download link is the same: http://www.abrohamnealsoftware.com/DXB2007.zip If you already have installed v1.10, you can just download the extra libraries needed for Import.exe to work properly. These three files are athttp://www.abrohamnealsoftware.com/MissingV110DLLs.zip All you have to do is unzip the file and copy the enclosed 3 files to the new DXBase 1.10 directory. Nothing more than that. 73 Neal __._,_.___ Reply to sender | Reply to group | Reply via web post | Start a New Topic Messages in this topic (5) Recent Activity: a..
