In follow-up .. It appears that the situation two dxbase users ran into when
loading DXbase2007 ver 1.10 onto a Virgin Computer (Windows7 32 bit) was
that just possibly they installed DXbase2007 ver 1.10 first (without loading
their REG file) - then once they bring up the TRIAL version of DXbase - they
might have checkmarked the OPENING window so that "that prompt window" is not
shown on future openings of DXbase. This action would write the TRIAL.MDB
file as the defaulted logbook mdb file (in the dxb2007.ini file) .. Then, if the
user finally installed their REG file, and tries to open DXbase -- it WOULD
show the
ERROR that these two users saw - because the OPENING window entitled:

"Select Database and Field Layout"

doesn't show-up (because of the actions done previously) and DXbase
knows that there is a valid REG installed and still TRIES to open the logbook
mdb
file of Trial.mdb ... and this can not be done and errors out ...

The ONE method to cure this problem is to go into your dxb2007.ini file and
in the section called [GEN] -- look for the line that says:

DBPROMPT=

and make that entry read as:

DBPROMPT=1

Then save the dxb2007.ini file ..

Now - DXbase -- when you execute the program WILL give you the opening small
window for "Select Database and Field Layout" .. at this time select YOUR true
logbook mdb file ...

This would be the BEST method to use to cure the problem ..

The SECOND method would be to modify the dxb2007.ini file in the area
entitled [DIR] and on the line that says:

DATAPATH=

change the DATAPATH= info to reflect YOUR logbook mdb file -- vice the
Trial.mdb file ...

Then save the dxb2007.ini file ...

In this SECOND case -- DXbase2007 will open OK -- but, the opening small window
will
not be seen .. it is always better to leave the PROMPT "small window"

"Select Database and Field Layout"

available.

SO, I do not think that DXbase2007 ver 1.10 has any problem with uniquely
Windows7 32 bit
machines.

Just FYI.

Knut and Neal,

This is strange -- since Joe K8FC also had the same problem and
he was also running a Win 7 32 bit setup .. The dxb2007.ini file
that is made - should list the dxbase (user's callsign).mdb ..

Neal -- is this something (BUG) that shows up only with Win 7 32-bit
computers??

Had this problem on a laptop Windows 7 32-bits.
The DXBASE2007.ini file (Paragraph [dir]) stated wrong name (this time it
was Trial.mdb).
Changed to correct file name, saved, and that was it.
It works!
