Ok, just found something of interest. On the DXBase PSK window at Settings/General Setup... there is an area called Frequency Display Setup to set the frequency span of the waterfall and a button labeled "Waterfall Colors...". When I click on this button a Explorer navigation window opens for me to navigate to a path somewhere on my machine to point out "Files of type:" and the little box is filled with "Palette Files (*.pal).

So apparently I am supposed to identify a .pal file type that contains the colors needed for the Waterfall display. Unfortunately, I cannot find any .pal files on my machine in the DXB2007 folder. Apparently this file type was there back when I was running DXB2006 and didn't get carried over into DXB2007 when I upgraded? So, how do I find or create the .pal file that DXBasePSK is looking for?

I haven’t used the DXBase PSK program in quite a while, but have started trying to use it again to chase some of the W1AW/n stations that are on PSK. The program seems to run ok, but on the Waterfall screen I am not seeing an actual “waterfall”. The screen is completely black with no horizontal line and there is no blue background against which the yellow trace lines used to show. I can hear the PSK tones and a little green wave form segment above each trace line as it slowly goes down the black background screen. The SQ bar lights up in yellow to show the signal strength and I am printing some stations, but the waterfall display is not as I remembered from previous usage. Is there a setting somewhere I’m missing that needs to be adjusted? Running an IC-7600 with a microHAM microKEYER II and using the sound card in the MK II.

I know, I should probably download and run fldigi, but didn’t really want the hassle of learning another software package. Besides I like how DXBase PSK logs directly into DXB2007. Any suggestions out there?
