Dick (W1KSZ),

I had a similar problem loading the radio frequency when I first migrated to
Windows 7.

It turns out that I needed to configure the port, close the program, and
then re-launch it. Once I re-opened the program it started working.

Also, check your configuration. I had to set RTS = High.

Good luck,

Fred WX1S

Also can I use the old registry licence file (XP) on windows Win 7?

Many Thanks

Hi Neal and all

I downloaded the installation file yesterday ()Thanks Joe) and I have some
problems please can you help

I am now running new PC with windows 7 32 bit

Downloaded the info regarding Help files and although it starts the menu and
I can select a topic it displays ?There was a problem running the macro
(1037)

The ICON on the desktop has a shield on it - Is it because program is Not
validated ? My windows is validated OK

I cannot get my Rig to load frequency in the log column, although I can get
the CW to work from the keyboard. I downloaded the latest radio file off
the dxbase group file list. Is there another file update?

Im running a Yaesu FTDX5000MP and also can you give me the setup for RTS CTS
etc.

I bought a new computer and have the choice of Windows 7 (32 or
64 bit) or Windows 8.

How does DXBase play with any of these ? I would like to install Windows 8,
but only if it works.

The windows 8 interface was developed primarily with touch-screen users in
mind. My son has a Microsoft Surface Pro and he says that Windows 8 is very
nice with the touch screen, but definitely would not like it on a typical
mouse-driven desktop. He isn't the only one: I have heard little good said
about it for regular, mouse oriented users, though I have heard that Windows
8.1 is better.

In appearance the user interface for Windows 7 is much more like Windows XP
(and can be made to look almost exactly like XP), which is replaces. The
difference between 32 and 64 bit operating systems lies primarily in the
amount of addressable RAM. 32 bits can address only up to about 3 GB (with
appropriate extensions). A 64 bit operating system can address far more
memory than you can stuff into any PC. The 64 bit operating systems will run
32 bit programs without any problem, but 32 bit programs can themselves only
address 2 GB of RAM (~3 GB with appropriate extensions). 64 bit systems are
intrinsically no faster than 32 bit systems. For numerical work, 64 bits can
carry more significant digits than can 32 bits.
