About two years ago I decided to leave DXBase but stay in the background and watch to see if Neal ever shows signs of upgrading DXBase.  I migrated to DXLab a free logging program with free updates.  This program is worth looking into as it is  very comprehensive and has I believe more features than DXBase.  Let me say that I went with DXBase when it first came out in DOS.  I will never understand why an individual would purchase such  great software and then just sit by and let it die a slow death.  Without Joe's love of the program it would have died years ago.

Hi Dick,

Neal said he was looking at that option over a year ago, but I don't think he
ever decided how.

During Dayton this year, I decided that I was going to take a different
approach for DXBase as my desire to deal with some of the members of the
community had dropped dramatically and obviously their appreciation of me had
also.
I still have not fully decided on how to open the program up so selected,
trusted developers could contribute changes and control the situation. There
are several proprietary packages that cannot be passed around and likely would
need to be replaced. The charges of the program will be removed when I can get
this worked out (as well as the licensing).

FORMAT from LOTW downloads

If Neal cannot support the Program,
how about releasing it so someone
else can pick it up and modify it.

Is there any issues with doing that ?

The best way is for Neal to update the program so it works with the
correct new format standard, instead of the users having to come up with
work arounds.

Joe,
Another way to fix the problem would be to have a program that converts
the new LoTW ADI to the old format.

  Just FYI to all,

I have been made aware that there might be an OOPS!! when it

comes to downloading an ADI file from LOTW - and the COUNTY information...

YES!! There is a conflict NOW -- since LOTW adi file now is FORMATTED

totally different than it ever has been before.. With this conflict, the
COUNTY

information from the LOTW file is NOT IMPORTED.. You will see BUNCHES of

Warnings in the Error file.

The Non-DXB Import Program (Import.exe) will have to be modified so that

it can find the correct information... Here is a SAMPLE QSO (from my LOTW
download)

that SHOWS the NEW FORMAT for the STATE and COUNTY info:

<APP_LoTW_OWNCALL:6>WA6AXE
<STATION_CALLSIGN:6>WA6AXE
<CALL:4>KH7X
<BAND:3>40M
<FREQ:7>7.24200
<MODE:3>SSB
<APP_LoTW_MODEGROUP:5>PHONE
<QSO_DATE:8>20050305
<TIME_ON:6>082000
<QSL_RCVD:1>Y
<QSLRDATE:8>20090501
<DXCC:3>110
<COUNTRY:6>HAWAII
<APP_LoTW_DXCC_ENTITY_STATUS:7>Current
<APP_LoTW_2xQSL:1>Y
<CQZ:2>31
<ITUZ:2>61
<GRIDSQUARE:6>BL01XP
<STATE:2>HI // Hawaii
<CNTY:11>HI,HONOLULU // Honolulu
<eor>

For the sake of my AutoLOTW program -- I am going to in the next few days,
go

into the coding and try to make it so that the COUNTY info will be seen
correctly.

As far as the DXbase Non-DXB Import -- an update will have to come from
Neal ...

Just FYI
