So that's great, It's your right.
I've taken the liberty to have my site only Ie/NS4 compatible until I have a
chance to update it, but when I work for a customer I do what they ask, and
use the best tools for the job. If they are selling something I'd use plain
HTML, for full compatibility, often they have developers who have built the
site with DreamWeaver, and I'll just add separate lib's to get some custom
job done, but if they need a web app, or something to mirror the flash
version of the site I'd use DynAPI. They are not interested in work that
doesn't cater for 20 - 25 % of users.
And the way the API is being developed now, it IS being based round DOM
code, with bug fixes for backwards compatibility.
On the other hand I agree many of the dom things like borders and the IE
effects etc can be used, as long as they degrade for the older browsers.
Cheers,
Richard Bennett

Subject: [Dynapi-Dev] not so sure about this anymore

source, started working with it, threw my hat into the ring as a Mac guy and
now I'm having second thoughts about the necessity of this project at all.
I've been spending a lot of time working with pure CSS/DOM in Mozilla/NS6,
IE5 and Opera 5 and have been reading some articles on A List Apart
(www.alistapart.com) about the Web Standards Project's new browser upgrade
initiative and I've decided something. I am no longer going to encourage
the use of old buggy browsers (most of which are 3-4 years old). From now
on, my sites are only compatible with CSS/DOM capable browsers. If you
ain't got one, upgrade. I think it's about time. This cross-browser
compatibility stuff is holding back the web and I don't see the reason for
it anymore. Suddenly, DynAPI seems like a waste of time for me. A band-aid
on a limb that is so damaged it should just be amputated. How will this
project remain vital in the lo!
