then show me an example of where your require a mouseup event to be triggered in
a separate place to the mousedown event.
then, show me where you can have a page that requires this in more places than
it doesn't.
if you can't. simply do as I said previously and clear the .focus pointer to
null and that will stop the mouseup event from being redirected.
in the meantime, the focus code eliminates the need for additional code on all
of the button and scroll widgets that are having problems.
I am trying to get some code that works in a CROSS-BROWSER (all browsers acting
the same) way. If your only problem is that I am using the word "cripple"
instead of "backward compatability" than I think you should be focusing (no pun
intended) on some of the other more pressing issues of the api that need to be
solved.
