Quite a few of you have written me and informed me that on slower machines
DynAPI Ultra edition is rather slow to decompress. I've also just taken a
look at DOMapi and am quite impressed. Its not as broad as DynAPI in terms
of compatibility with 4+ browsers but it is smaller. However, domAPI lacks
the include library functionality that makes DynAPI so scalable. I was
thinking that one could replace the original include libraries in DynAPI
with simple smaller ones that actually contain a conditional statement and
obtains more platform dependent files instead. For instance, including
dynapi.layer.js library could branch out and obtain either the original
DynAPI layer.js or a smaller reworked one that is domAPI like in its
foundation and implementation but supports all the same methods and
properties. This makes the whole DynAPI leverage the fastest code to
download and execute based on platform. This would allow full compatibility
with DynAPI, after all, what is DynAPI but a 'Dynamic Application
Programming Interface'!? I also like how domAPI (see www.domapi.com) widgets
have progressed, we should really convert our existing gui elements with
something more advanced and scaleable, starting with a simple plain panel
that could have bevels of various size or none. Such a pnael serves as a
foundation for so many widgets. DynAPI3 anyone?
