Are you sure filters are ActiveX? I thought not. They're definitely not new, been with us since IE4.
We have one user widget that applies the opacity filter, see: http://www.richardinfo.com/examples/php/examples.html under: ../Ruairi_McComb_examples dynapi.fx.opacity.htm dynapi.fx.opacityanim.html This code could be modified to do other filters also. Mozilla/NS+6 also support filters, but - of course - not using the same syntax. IE4 doesn't support these things. (not counting DHTML versions of the more boring box-in, box-out filters) You can load other graphics for NS4, which might contain opacity through raster.
