I was involved in the project, but I ran out of time (real work got in the way). However, I spent a significant amount of time talking to David Joham, the project maintainer, and coding for the project.
Before abandoning the project, I contributed a partial re-write which should hopefully appear in the next major version. The re-write included refactoring the parser into a pull-based parser core, and external drivers which provided either a SAX2 or full-fledged DOM (level 1) interface. Anyway, in short, PLEASE HELP OUT! David is quite busy also, and mostly has been working on test suites for the existing code. Keep an eye on the project - it's already great technology, and could be even better if more people were involved.
