That's the problem, I can't do more than I do now, so I don't want to go starting a new branch on CVS for the addon-pack, if I can't maintain it. If someone could put in the time to think this over, decide the structure, which addons were worth having, which not. Maybe a side-branch for Dom only addons, and one for IE5.5+ only addons. A section with stylesheets maybe. a section for animations. That's the fun bit, it also needs to be maintained, it should have releases, that follow closely to the DynAPI releases, and where ALL the add-ons are tested that they work well with the corresponding DynAPI release. The cross-browser add-ons should be tested that they work well in all browsers DynAPI supports. Then there's the difference between add-ons, and widgets. An add-on could be a browser-language detection script, or some animation script, like glide.js - the widgets are menus or buttons.
And mainly I think we should go for quality over quantity. Better one good dropmenu than five that don't work properly. We shouldn't automatically put in all widgets that are submitted, but test them properly. Also, once a widget is submitted it is opensource, so the original author should not complain if the code is changed, or the widget is dropped because another, better one was written. Like Doug said, you can download a lot of widgets from my site, but these are original versions by there authors, the quality will vary, and they are not all up to date or cross-browser.. Anyway, that's what I was thinking about the addon-pack - back to work now Cheers, Richard. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael Pemberton" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "DynApi-Help" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, November 13, 2001 8:43 AM Subject: Re: [Dynapi-Help] New Panel & Button Widget Available! > Does that mean your willing to take on another project? : ) > > Richard Bennett wrote: > > > They'd really fit nicely in a dynAPI addon-pack which I keep mentioning, but > > nobody seems enthusiastic about though. > > -- > Michael Pemberton > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > ICQ: 12107010 > > > > > > _______________________________________________ > Dynapi-Help mailing list > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dynapi-help > _______________________________________________ Dynapi-Dev mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.mail-archive.com/dynapi-dev@lists.sourceforge.net/
