Hello everyone,

I know this subject is an old and beaten one, but...

Recently I came across an interesting project at:

http://freshmeat.net/projects/dx0/

(it's also a sourceforge project, but the page is currently down)

::: start hype :::
        "DX0 is a PHP library that generates Dynamic HTML specific to
the
        visitor's browser. DX0 focuses on generating tight, compact
DHTML.
        DX0 allows reusable cross-browser widgets to be stored in a
binary
        pickle, so scripters in any of the supported languages can use
them.
        IE4+, NS4+, and Mozilla M14+ have all been tested and work well.
::: end hype :::

Of course, PHP is not the only server-side language out there, but don't
you think that something like this could be done for DynAPI, eventually
porting to other popular languages like ASP, Perl or whatever some
developer
feels like porting.

Ok, for people who don't need PHP or server-side scripting, it would be
useless, but for most professional uses nowadays, sites are mainly
dynamic or
are hosted in a server that supports PHP (or ASP, or whatever).

The advantages are huge.
-       download speed increase
- DynAPI widgets and modules can be inserted server-side as
needed, so that
        no decision is made client-side.
-       etc.

just my two bits... rocks welcome!

:)
