You would have to do a little work to backport IOElement to 2.5x (events, add 
dynapi.functions.getURLArguments).  2.9 is the development version and at some point 
the 2.5 version should just be abandoned.  I wouldn't consider 2.9 to be 'bleeding 
edge" or "unstable", this version is better and less buggy than 2.5 is.  There's 
really nothing to "merge" between these versions except for adding the widgets that 
were supplied in 2.5.

2.9 was quietly released, you can download it from the sourceforge site:

The next official version, 2.9.1, will include the mouse event rewrite (I've got the 
Netscape portion mostly complete), fixed DynLayer remove/destroy, hopefully proper IE 
garbage collection, and the improved IOElement that we're discussing here.  From there 
I'd like to try to further add as much Opera and Konquerer support as possible to 
DynAPI.
