Try this simple test: reload the page a few times to "cause" the memory leak. Then minimise the window. You will find that the IE process now goes back to the minimal value of about 400k (did this on my win2k box, actuall figure may differ). This shows that there are some things that can't be blamed solely on the DynAPI.
