I can answer that! It's from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by
Douglas Adams.

BTW, one of my pet peeves is quotes that aren't attibuted. It drives me
batty when I see a quote that I recognize, but I can't remember where
it's from, and there's nothing that says who originated it.
